Oh hey!
Nice to Meet you
I’m Amanda – a late-diagnosed autistic mom of three boys. Two of my three children have high support needs ranging from neurodevelopmental, depressive, and behavioral disorders to ultra rare genetic disorders. I most closely identify with being a parent to disabled and medically complex children. I am also a special education teacher turned homeschooler, a certified parent coach, a nature lover, and the person behind Necessary Revisions. My life has turned out very differently than I imagined it would. I am interested in all things disability & medical complexity, neurodivergence & mental health, and the overarching beliefs and values that influence how we live our lives. Many moments in my life have required me to rethink, relearn, adjust, and change course more times than I can count. Some of those life revisions have been intentionally chosen. A lot of them were absolutely necessary.

“When you know better, you do better.“

Necessary Revisions is about recognizing when a plan, expectation, belief, understanding, system, goal, or way of living no longer fits reality. It is built around the idea that we are allowed to question what we thought we knew and revise the plans we once thought were set in stone when new information, experience, circumstances, or understanding make that necessary. Here, I’ll share what I’ve learned along the way and what I’m still figuring out as I’m walking roads I never expected to be on.
Regardless of your walk of life, I’m so happy you’re here. I hope you feel seen and understood in my posts. I also hope you find solidarity and/or relatability. If the lessons I’ve learned or the resources I’ve found useful are helpful to even one person, my dreams for this site will have come true. For those of you who are confused, hurting, grieving, or in a season of unwanted, but necessary, revision, I am wrapping you up in a warm, cozy hug as you process and move forward. You are not alone, and I am always rooting for you.
